Local runoffs are historically low turnout events with the highest chance of upsets – every vote is critical to ensuring RECA-endorsed candidates win their election. The runoffs will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, with early voting starting Thursday, December 1 through Friday, December 9, 2022.
Who’s on the ballot? In Austin, there are four races that have gone to a runoff, Mayor and City Council Districts 3, 5, and 9. All registered voters in Austin are eligible to vote for Mayor but there may not be a Council race on everyone’s ballot. Click here to confirm your city council district. Who has RECA endorsed?

During runoff elections, there are fewer polling locations open so check the clerk’s list before you head to the polls. Will I be able to vote in the runoff if I didn’t vote in the general election? Yes. If you registered to vote in the City of Austin by November 14, 2022, you are eligible to vote in the runoff elections.
