What is RECA Doing About CodeNext?

April 26, 2018

You likely received RECA's recent statement on CodeNext Draft 3.0, and I want you to be aware of the hard work our organization's volunteer experts have put into this process.

Since work on CodeNext began, RECA members have:

  • Volunteered thousands of hours of personal time to review the drafts of the code, provide technical analysis and draft detailed revisions to all three versions of the code.
  • Deployed our Policy and Research & Education Committees to perform extensive research and debate policy and other issues.
  • Applied CodeNext regulations to numerous local sites and proposed hundreds of specific changes to the draft code.
  • Held late-night code analysis meetings to decipher code provisions and respond to urgent deadlines.
  • Served on and repeatedly provided information to the CodeNext Advisory Group.
  • Met with other community groups to educate them on CodeNext.

RECA is the organization it is today because of the incredible work of our diverse and experienced volunteer experts. I appreciate the hard work they have put into this complex process. If you'd like to get more involved, please email RECA's VP of Policy and Government Affairs Geoffrey Tahuahua at geoffrey@reca.org.
