A highly respected study conducted by the University of Toronto's Martin Prosperity Institute recently named Austin the most economically segregated city in the country. That means Austin ranks as the place where wealthy, college-educated professionals and less-educated, blue-collar workers are least likely to share the same neighborhoods. How did this happen and what does it mean for the community as we update the land development code during CodeNEXT? Steven Pedigo, the Director of Research for the Creative Class Group, will join former Austin City Council Member Chris Riley for an insightful discussion about the study, what it means for Austin and how CodeNEXT may or may not address these issues.
